Green Activities -kriteeristön kehittämistyö on siirtynyt vaiheeseen, jossa pyydämme sidosryhmiltä ja suurelta yleisöltä kommentteja ehdotettuihin uusiin kriteereihin. Uudessa kriteeristössä on 3 lukua, ja kunkin luvun perus- ja pistekriteerejä arvioidaan erillisessä kyselyssä. Ehdotettu kriteeristö on kokonaisuudessaan luettavissa täällä (PDF-tiedosto, avautuu toiseen ikkunaan).

Kriteeristö tiukentuu

Uudistuksen keskeisimpiä muutoksia ovat muun muassa aiempaa tiukemmat vaatimukset liittyen vetokoirien harjoittamiseen, terveydenhoitoon ja -seurantaan sekä koppien lämpöeristykseen. Porokriteeristö säätelee entistä tarkemmin porojen työ- ja vapaa-aikoja sekä koulutusvaiheen kiinnipitämistä. Myös valvontaa on tiukennettu. Paikan päällä tehtävien, säännöllisten auditointien lisäksi jatkossa tehdään myös ennalta ilmoittamattomia tarkastuskäyntejä. Lisäksi sertifioitujen yritysten tulee tiedottaa henkilökunnalleen ja asiakkailleen ilmoituskanavasta, johon he voivat raportoida kriteeristörikkomuksista.

Ehdotettu uusi Green Activities -kriteeristö koostuu kolmesta luvusta:
  • Lukuun 1 on yhdistetty nykyisen kriteeristön luvut 1-4, lisäksi mukana on aiempaa laajempi velvoite yrityksen ympäristövaikutusten seurantaan.
  • Luku 2 kattaa Ohjelmapalveluiden tuottamisen (entinen luku 5)
  • Luku 3 (ent. luku 6A&B) on jaettu 2 osaan, ja käsittelee matkailueläinten työoloja ja hoitoa.

TAUSTAA

Green Activities kehitystyö käynnistyi vuonna 2024, kun toteutimme sidosryhmille suunnatun työpajan liittyen kriteristön kehitystarpeisiin. Työpaja sai jatkoa suurelle yleisölle avoimesta kyselystä, jossa kartoitettiin tarvetta Green Activities -sertifikaatin kriteeristön laajennukselle tärkeimpien ympäristövaikutusten seuraamiseksi. Kyselyn tulos oli varsin selvä: vastaajat pitivät tärkeänä, että sertifikaatti edellyttää jatkossa ohjelmapalveluyrityksiltä mm. veden- ja energiankulutuksen sekä jätemäärien seurantaa. Nämä toiveet on huomioitu nyt julkaistussa uuden kriteeristöehdotuksen 1-luvun kriteereissä.

Vuonna 2025 kehitystyö jatkui, kun auditoijamme Päivi Pälvimäki kartoitti laajasti nykyisen Ohjelmapalvelut-luvun kehitystarpeita osana opinnäytetyötään. Kartoituksen suositukset olivat pitkälti yhteneviä tänä vuonna sidosryhmiltä saamiemme kommenttien kanssa, ja niiden pohjalta on kehitetty nyt julkaistavan ehdotuksen luku 2. Alkuvuoden 2026 aikana olemme työstäneet kriteeristön ohjelmapalveluita ja matkailueläimiä koskevia lukuja yhdessä laajan ja edustavan sidosryhmäjoukon kanssa. Nyt julkaistava lukujen 2&3 kriteeristöehdotus on tämän työn tulosta.

Green Activities -kriteeristön kehitystyössä on noudatettu ISO17065-standardin vaatimuksia.

The proposed new Green Activities Criteria are now open for comments!

The development of the Green Activities criteria has moved to a phase where we are asking stakeholders and the general public for comments on the proposed new criteria. The new criteria have 3 chapters, and the imperative and guideline criteria for each chapter are assessed in a separate survey. All the proposed new criteria may be read here (PDF file opens in a new window).

The surveys can be answered between 1.5.-1.6.2026.

The criteria are getting stricter

The key changes in the reform include, among others, stricter requirements regarding the training, health care and monitoring of sled dog, and the thermal insulation of the kennels. The proposed new reindeer criteria regulate the working and leisure hours of reindeer and their training phase more precisely. Supervision has also been tightened: In addition to regular on-site audits, unannounced inspection visits will also be carried out in the future. In addition, certified companies must inform their staff and customers about a reporting channel where they can report violations of the criteria.

The new Green Activities criteria consists of three chapters:
  • Chapter 1 combines chapters 1-4 of the current criteria, and also includes a broader obligation to monitor the company’s environmental impact.
  • Chapter 2 covers the production of Program Services
  • Chapter 3, which is divided into 2 parts, deals with the working conditions and care of tourism animals.

BACKGROUND

The Green Activities development work began in 2024, when we held a workshop for stakeholders regarding the development needs of the criteria. The workshop was followed by a survey open to the general public, which surveyed the need for an expansion of the Green Activities certificate criteria to monitor the most important environmental impacts. The survey result was quite clear: respondents considered it important that the certificate requires program service companies to monitor, among other things, water and energy consumption and waste volumes. These wishes have been taken into account in the criteria for Chapter 1 of the new criteria proposal, which has now been published.

In 2025, the development work continued, when our auditor Päivi Pälvimäki extensively mapped the development needs of the current Activity Program Services chapter as part of her further studies. The recommendations of the mapping were largely consistent with the comments we receivedthis year, as we proceeded with fine-combing the existing criteria on the current chapters 5&6. During the first months of 2026, we have been developing the new Green Activities criteria in cooperation with wide range of stakeholder groups presented below, and the Chapters 2-3 of the proposal now being published are a result of this work.

The development of the Green Activities criteria has followed the requirements of the ISO17065 standard.
