Green Key -sertifiointijärjestelmä uudistuu 1.10.2026 alkaen, kun Audit Independer Group aloittaa ohjelman uutena riippumattomana sertifiointielimenä.
Muutoksen taustalla ovat sertifiointijärjestelmiä koskevat muuttuvat vaatimukset. Uudistuksella vahvistetaan Green Key -sertifioinnin riippumattomuutta, läpinäkyvyyttä ja luotettavuutta sekä varmistetaan, että järjestelmä vastaa myös jatkossa lainsäädännön vaatimuksiin.
Mitä muutos tarkoittaa käytännössä?
Audit Independer vastaa 1.10.2026 alkaen Green Keyn riippumattomasta sertifiointiprosessista. Sen tehtäviin kuuluvat muun muassa auditointien koordinointi, hakemusasiakirjojen ja auditointiraporttien arviointi sekä lopullisten sertifiointipäätösten tekeminen. Audit Independer vastaa myös auditoijien hyväksynnän, koulutuksen ja nimeämisen koordinoinnista.
Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) omistaa ja kehittää Green Key -ohjelmaa jatkossakin sekä tuottaa ohjelman yhteisiä materiaaleja ja koulutuksia. Suomessa Going Green Oy vastaa Green Key -ohjelman kansallisesta toiminnasta, ja kansallinen ohjelmajohtaja säilyy Green Key -toimijoiden ensisijaisena yhteyshenkilönä.
Mitä muutos tarkoittaa Green Key -kohteille?
Tavoitteena on, että muutos näkyy teille mahdollisimman vähän. Nykyiset sertifiointiaikataulut jatkuvat, eikä muutos edellytä tässä vaiheessa teiltä toimenpiteitä.
Keskeistä on, että:
- sertifiointi jatkuu uuden sertifiointielimen vastuulla 1.10.2026 alkaen
- vaatimukset täyttävät nykyiset auditoijat voivat jatkaa Green Key -auditoijina
- kansallinen ohjelmatoimisto säilyy Suomessa ensisijaisena yhteystahonanne
- sertifiointiin liittyviä tietoja jaetaan jatkossa Audit Independerille sertifioinnin toteuttamista ja seurantaa varten
- muutokseen liittyen myös Green Key -sopimus päivitetään

The Green Key certification scheme will be renewed as of 1 October 2026, when Audit Independer Group will take on the role of the programme’s new independent Certification Body.
The change is driven by evolving requirements for certification schemes. The renewal will strengthen the independence, transparency and credibility of Green Key certification and ensure that the scheme continues to comply with regulatory requirements in the future.
What does the change mean in practice?
From 1 October 2026, Audit Independer will be responsible for Green Key’s independent certification process. Its responsibilities will include coordinating audits, reviewing application documentation and audit reports, and making final certification decisions. Audit Independer will also coordinate the approval, training and appointment of auditors.
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) will continue to own and develop the Green Key programme and provide common programme materials and training. In Finland, Going Green ltd will continue to be responsible for the national operation of the Green Key programme, and the National Programme Director will remain the primary point of contact for Green Key certified establishments.
What does the change mean for Green Key establishments?
Our aim is to make the transition as seamless as possible for you. Existing certification schedules will continue as planned, and no action is required from you at this stage.
The key points are:
- from 1 October 2026, certification will be carried out under the responsibility of the new Certification Body
- existing auditors who meet the applicable requirements can continue to work as Green Key auditors
- the National Programme Office in Finland will remain your primary point of contact
- going forward, information related to certification will be shared with Audit Independer for the purposes of carrying out and monitoring the certification process
- the Green Key agreement will also be updated in connection with the change
